Our founder and principal engineer is David M. Schwartz, AES, IEEE, a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, where he studied architecture and engineering for six years, Schwartz pioneered digital audio compression in 1982. That technology became part of the patent pool for MPEG Audio.
Schwartz's further work in digital audio includes CompuSonics Smart Speakers, the audio control software for the Tandy optical disc recorder, the digital audio circuits and signal processing software for the Atari Falcon 030 PC, the digital audio circuits and CD ROM subsystem design for the Atari Jaguar videogame console, a winning digital stethoscope design for the Wyle Labs-Analog Devices competition, and audio processing software for Discreet.
In digital video, Schwartz developed compression systems and software for CompuSonics Video, interactive streaming video control software for Atari Jaguar games, Internet TV and interactive video navigation systems for Imaginon.
Schwartz's work in integrated circuit design includes a novel method for high-speed system clock signal distribution. His inventions have been awarded over a dozen U.S. patents.
