PFD Microphone Videos
We've documented the development of our new microphone technology in video clips.
- Proof of Concept
This bench-top device proved that sound pressure waves can modulate a moving stream of smoke or fog, eliminating the need for a diaphragm.
- First Prototype
- Our first prototype just barely produced an audio signal. We referred to it as our "taliking dog" because we didn't care what it said; we were happy it talked.
- Second Prototype
- Our second prototype sounded better than the first, mainly because the internal smoke nozzle was more precise.
- Tech Talk
- Many people wanted to see what was inside the prototypes, so in this video we put one together.

- This is the prototype made for the Audio Engineering Society convention and exhibition in New York City ,2009.
- Prototype 5
- We call this prototype the birdhouse. It sounds better than any of our previous models for a number of reasons, including a higher power laser, a better nozzle shape and its sound absorbent housing.
