PFD Microphone Videos

We've documented the development of our new microphone technology in video clips.

Proof of Concept
This bench-top device proved that sound pressure waves can modulate a moving stream of smoke or fog, eliminating the need for a diaphragm.
First Prototype
Our first prototype just barely produced an audio signal. We referred to it as our "taliking dog" because we didn't care what it said; we were happy it talked.
Second Prototype
Our second prototype sounded better than the first, mainly because the internal smoke nozzle was more precise.
Tech Talk
Many people wanted to see what was inside the prototypes, so in this video we put one together.

This is the prototype made for the Audio Engineering Society convention and exhibition in New York City ,2009.
Prototype 5
We call this prototype the birdhouse. It sounds better than any of our previous models for a number of reasons, including a higher power laser, a better nozzle shape and its sound absorbent housing.
